Thumbnail Character Gesture And Design Practice

Recently I watched a Krita painting tutorial that
drove home the benefit of creating thumbnail concepts as
preparation for more complete drawings/paintings.

I've usually not taken this step and instead have just jumped
right into trying to create character ideas full-size in my sketchbook —
generally relying on my 'scribble technique' to generate ideas.

But the tutorial reminded me that thumbnails allow you to
create a lot of quick concepts and then select from the best
of them to turn into full-size drawings and paintings.

The two 'pages' above were created rather quickly in digital 'painting'
software — but because they're quick design sketches — I'll include them here.
